YPA: a Year in Review
RANCHO MISSION VIEJO, CA (November 4, 2021) – The Youth Pride Association (YPA) turns one year old today. Here is a quick recap of all the progress YPA has made in ensuring all students can succeed, no matter their sexual orientation or gender identity, since its founding on November 4th, 2020.
This year, YPA developed and launched our Acceptance Week program, a program in high schools that works to improve conditions for LGBTQ students. This program is now nearly two years in the making, first conceptualized back in February of 2020. This very program was the initial reason YPA was founded.
YPA is bringing the Acceptance Week program to Royal High School in Semi Valley, CA, and their over 2,100 students from February 28th to March 4th, 2020! More high schools are soon to come!
Since this program’s launch, YPA received the 2021 CSU Channel Islands President’s Award for Student Innovation, watch the full acceptance speech given at the CI fall convocation below:
